I’m a 19-year-old gender equality activist focused on technology and social impact. My experiences living and studying in Peru, South Africa, and Hong Kong have shaped my global perspective and deepened my commitment to advocating for increased participation of women in STEM fields, which is essential for driving innovative solutions to sustainability challenges.

Kamori is a youth delegate for the Thai Delegation at COP28 and COP29. Her work lies in intersectional environmentalism and, as the Founder of Period Talks, her initiative touches upon climate-induced healthcare issues such as the lack of clean water and sanitation and its effect on sexual and reproductive health. Kamori works across the spaces of climate, culture, education, and health. She believes in culture as a catalyst and point of departure for fostering deeper understanding and engagement on issues such as climate.

My name is Evie Prokesh. I am 25 years old, from Bratislava, Slovakia, and I am currently studying Global Health, with a focus on social work and community (mental) health, in Maastricht, the Netherlands. In the past, I worked for 2 years as the chair of the Summer School Global Health and 1 year as a research assistant at SickKids Toronto. Presently, I am a youth leader for Act4Food, a youth-led movement for global food systems change, and a ‘Youth in Philanthropy' fellow at Elevate Children Funders Group. Additionally, I act in advisory roles at The Lancet Child & Adolescent Health, Msichana Empowerment Kuria, and Sustainaware. In the future, I hope to lead a research group focused on improving the health and life conditions of vulnerable children, while working with NGOs and governments to influence policies on child health and well-being. I am passionate about mobilizing people, especially youth, to advocate for children and a sustainable, inclusive future that ensures health and well-being for all.

Engage with the YIP Fellows

A core purpose of ECFG is to elevate child and youth issues within philanthropy. We believe our work is most effective and impactful when it centers on the perspectives of those we aim to serve. To elevate child and youth issues within philanthropy, we must also elevate the voices of young people themselves. However, historically, we have elevated these issues without significantly elevating the voice of young people themselves within our network. By creating the Youth for Impactful Philanthropy Fellowship program, we seek to create a meaningful and consistent space for youth voices within ECFG and raise the perspectives of young people in both our members’ work and in the broader philanthropic community - all toward the goal of increasing the effectiveness of support for children and youth around the world.

We recognize that many funders lack formal channels for engaging children and youth in decision-making, or feel they do not have the expertise, capacity, or mandate to amplify young voices in their work. As a result, those shaping funding strategies—even within the children's philanthropic sector—often lack direct access to the perspectives of beneficiaries. Our hope is that this program will begin to bridge that gap, creating pathways for increased youth representation in philanthropy. We aspire to foster intergenerational collaboration and build capacity for both funders and youth interested in philanthropy.

Why Youth Engagement in ECFG

The YIP fellows were selected from an impressive pool of more than 300 applications from leaders and activists worldwide. Since joining in May, these fellows have been co-designing the program and contributing their insights and expertise to the ECFG Secretariat. Over the next six months, they will focus on integrating into the network to share their knowledge and insights with out members. While we may open applications for a second cohort in the future, our current focus is on this inaugural group.
